SCT Readout Cables - Status

• Sector 9 18 EC cables installed and tested.
• Sector 3 18 barrel and 9 EC cables installed,
  out of which 6 barrel cables were tested.
• Sector 1 18 EC cables installed, no tested.
• Sector 7 18 barrel cables delivered to the
  pit, likely to be installed next week.
• In total, 63 cables out of 144 installed, 24
  tested.
• 39 untested cables should be tested during the
  next week.
• Problem 1 In a few cases there are one or two
  ribbons in the cable shorter by 15-20mm than the
  other ribbons. The required precision of the
  final connector position is 5mm, which obviously
  can not be achieved for these cables. The
  ribbons are installed such that the shortest
  ribbon reaches the specified position.
  Experience with the mock-up of ribbon connections
  at PPB1 and PPF1 indicate that it should be OK.

Suggestion to swap SCT ROD racks

• Problem 2 barrel cables in sector 3 shorter than
  needed (by 2 meters), since they were by mistake
  ordered without any contingency (normally 7
  meters in addition).
• Suggested solution swap the EC and barrel ROD
  racks in USA 15. According to the PRR2 document
  we should gain 1.7 meters by the swap of racks,
  perhaps a bit more in reality. This should solve
  the problem in sector 3 (e.g. all cables
  installed so far would be OK).
• Hopefully the other sectors installed in future
  will be then OK as well. If not, a back-up
  solution is to modify the cable tray routing in
  USA 15 (to make the fibre cable path a bit
  shorter).
• As a by-product of the suggested solution, we
  will loose some of the excess of the EC cables,
  which is difficult to store at the moment.
• Request to the steering group could you approve
  the swap of the EC and barrel racks?

FSI delivery cables

• 38 cables in total
• Sector 3 All 9 cables cut according to the
  length specified in PRR2 document (EDH).
• Problem The cable lengths were by mistake
  ordered without the 7m contingency, and the
  cables appeared to be too short.
• Solution The cable path has been changed by
  Serguei Malyukov, now the cables from sector 3
  are OK.
