  essence of it.
• "If you were to be placed on trial for

give in to the temptation to sin

• Who of us can say we have had
  it as hard as Daniel?
• His discouragements and temptations were great,
  but he overcame, 1 John 53-5

• III. He Was Unbending in His Commitment

• Where did Daniel learn this?
  Ps. 11-3, Deut. 61-9
• The trial of faith shows our commitment or
  lack thereof. Daniel's
  commitment to God was not
  superficial.

• IV. Daniel was a man of purpose

• Daniel purposed in his heart. Dan. 18
• Because of his willingness to put God first,
  God granted Daniel favor in the sight of others,
  Daniel 19

• How God did this is not explained, but it
  happened in the case of Joseph also, Gen.
  391-4, 21-23

• V. Daniel was a man of principle

• He refused to compromise his convictions

• As a young man, by refusing to eat the king's
  meat or drink his wine, Dan 18
• As an older man, by refusing the gifts of
  Belshazzar, Dan. 513-17
• By refusing to obey the decree of Darius, Dan.
  610

• VI. Daniel was a man of purity

• He was faultless when it came to management
  of his business affairs. Dan. 61-4
• The Christian is also to maintain purity in
  conduct,
  1 Tim. 412, Titus 26-8, 9-10

• In spite of the kings edict not to petition
  any god or man for 30 days we see in Daniel 610
