WHAT IS BLACK HISTORY ABOUT?

• Carter G. Woodson pioneered the annual
  celebration of Black History in 1926.
• This ensured that the positive contribution of
  black people was recognised.
• In 1987, Black History was established as an
  annual event in the UK through the work of
  Akyaaba Addai Sebo.
• Since then a number of events have taken place
  in October each year educating young people about
  black cultures.

• Black History Month is a time-
• To reflect and find out more about our culture.
• To acknowledge ourselves and our history
• To establish who we are
