Status Forms
  • The Labor Status form must be completed and
    signed by both students and supervisors prior to
    beginning any labor position. The status form
    gives a summary of
  • Primary and Secondary Labor Positions
  • Hours, Grade, Step, Rate, Department and Start
    Date
  • Status forms must be on file in the Payroll
    Office by the Friday before the first pay period
    ends.
  • A separate status form is required for each labor
    position held on campus.

Filling Out A Status Form
  • Labor Supervisors must fill in the students
    labor position code, contracted hours, pay grade,
    and the department number.

  • All status forms must be signed by both
    supervisor and student.

What is a pay grade?
  • Pay grades are established for each labor
    position in each department.
  • Pay grades set the pay rate for the labor
    position.

Determining Pay Grades
  • Supervisors are responsible for determining the
    pay grade of each labor position.
  • Grade 5 and 6 positions must be pre-approved by
    the Dean of Labor or the Labor Forum.
  • Each department is budgeted a certain amount of
    positions and pay grades and must stay within
    what they have been assigned.

    responsibility and learning goals for the labor
    position.

Pay Grades
Pay rates are evaluated each year. These
figures represent the 2006-2007 rates.

Release/Adjustment Forms
  • Communicates any changes to a labor contract to
    the Student Payroll Office.
  • A release/adjustment form must be completed
    before a new status form will be issued.
  • The form is used to
  • Increase or decrease contracted hours per week.
  • Change grade or position code.
  • Release a student from his or her labor position.
  • PLEASE NOTE
  • A freshman may not be released without
    extenuating circumstances and approval from the
    Labor Office.
  • The Labor Office reserves the right to reassign
    (according to campus need) any student released
    for misconduct/unsatisfactory performance. These
    students should report to the Labor Office upon
    release.

Report of Unrecorded Time (a.k.a. Blue Cards)
  • Used to correct a students information (i.e.
    name or position) on the Department Report of
    Hours Worked form.
  • Can also be used to report unreported hours from
    a previous term.
  • Used to report hours for students working during
    Thanksgiving and Spring Breaks.
