• What is it used for?
• A compass rose is an element on many forms of
  maps (and now GPS systems) that show the
  directions
• Can show North, South, East and West as well as
  more specific directions

Directions

• North, south, east and west are known as the
  cardinal directions
• NE, NW, SE and SW are all known as the primary
  intercardinal directions
• ENE, WNW, ESE, WSW, NNE, NNW, SSE, SSW are all
  called the secondary intercardinal directions

How precise can you get?

• If you want to be more precise, you can use
  degrees in addition to the directions.
• Even more precise you can use minutes and even
  seconds
