What makes a Fad???

• Fashion designers play a major role in creating
  new clothing styles and fashions. The media also
  play an important role in the clothes that people
  consider popular. When famous people or TV stars
  begin to wear something, soon, everyone is
  copying the style and it becomes a fad.

What makes a Fad???

• Ordinary people play a part as well. For example,
  in the 1980s bicycle racers started wearing
  pants and shorts made from a comfortable fabric
  called lycra. These pants usually were black with
  neon trim. Other people liked the look and soon
  lycra pants (or Spandex) became popular.

Fashion Cycle

• Some styles come and go in what is called a
  Fashion Cycle. This occurs when styles from
  previous seasons come back in fashion. For
  example, the very clothes that you are wearing
  today were very popular in the 1980s when I was
  in school!
