Goals of the Trust Fund
  • Provide an efficient mitigation alternative
  • for applicants and agencies
  • Compensate for impacts (w/in watersheds)
  • Provide higher ratios than other options
  • Provide Mitigation with Landscape Context

Benefits To Agencies
  • 654 Stream and Wetland Permits have used the
    Fund.
  • Average Impact per permit- 0.43 acres 645 feet.
  • Avoided 654 postage stamp mitigation proposals
    no need for plan review, visits, or approval.
    Time saved, more compliance checks.
  • Fewer mitigation failures partial failures
    matter less, due to ratios.
  • Very efficient option for Virginia DOT.
