Quiahuitl
The Aztecs believe that our world had been
created and destroyed four different times. Each
world had a different Sun God that ruled it.

world was eaten by Jaguars and destroyed

Ruled by Ehecatl-The Wind God The world was
destroyed by a hurricane.

Ruled by Quiahuitl-The Fire God World was
destroyed by volcanic eruptions.

Ruled by Atl-The God of Water The world was
destroyed by floods.

The Fifth World, our world, is ruled by Ollin,
the God of Earthquakes. Aztecs believe that this
world will end in earthquakes.

Tonatiuh in Nahuatl (the language of the Aztecs)
means the Sun.
The Aztec calendar is dedicated to the 5th
Tonatiuh (Sun). His name is Ollin

Ollin-The Aztecs 5th Sun God
On his crown, he is wearing the sign (Acatl) on
his forehead which is the date that the fifth
world began.
The wrinkles on face show maturity and wisdom
His hair is blonde the same color as the golden
rays of the sun.
He wears a necklace of jade
The tongue is a knife that the Aztecs used for
human sacrifice. It is sticking out symbolizing a
solar ray.
He is wearing earrings

Here you can see the claws of the Sun God holding
the human hearts of the victims sacrificed to
him. On each claw, he is wearing a bracelet.

Represents the date June 26th -The date of the
Aztec celebrated the summer solstice.
