Which artwork is out of proportion?
4
Pattern
  • Pattern uses the elements in planned or random
repetitions. Patterns occur in nature and in art

5
Regular Pattern
  • Planned regular patterns are used by architects
as they design buildings. Repeated shapes for
window, ledges, doors and toher details are used
to develop patterns and therefore unifying the
    appearance of the building.

6
Patterns are EVERYWHERE

Ways to create PATTERNS

What type of contrast do these examples have?
  • Contrast is a big change in elements of art to
create interest. Contrast makes the work
interesting without it a design would be
    monotonous.
  • Examples Bright color vs. dull color, large
shapes vs. small shapes, thick lines vs. thin
lines. You must tell what is contrasting for
    someone to understand it.
