Geography of Ancient Egypt
  • The Nile River is the source of life for Ancient
    Egypt.
  • Yearly floods brought silt to grow crops.
  • The Nile united Upper and Lower Egypt through
    trade.
  • Egypt has natural barriers to protect it from
    invaders, such as Libyan Desert, Nubian Desert,
    Red Sea, and Mediterranean Sea.

Religion
  • Egyptians were polytheistic. Sun god-Amon Re,
    God of the Nile-Osiris.
  • They believed in the afterlife.
  • To ensure a prosperous and happy life after
    death, tombs were prepared to house the dead.
  • To preserve the body, mummification was practiced.

  • The Egyptian system of writing is called
    hieroglyphics. The first used pictograms to
    write and later adopted ideograms.
  • The Egyptians also added symbols for sounds.
  • First, writings were done on stone or wood.
    Later, papyrus paper was used.
