High School Graduation
  • In order to graduate from high school, students
    must complete the minimum course requirements, a
    full course of Algebra and must pass the
    California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

CAHSEE
  • Passage of the California High School Exit Exam
    (CAHSEE) is required for all students completing
    high school after 2006.
  • CAHSEE has two parts, Math and English. Both
    sections cover basic information similar to what
    students learn in 8th grade.
  • Students must score at least 350 on each section
    to pass.
  • Students may re-take the exam until a passing
    score is achieved.

School to Career
  • Valencia High School has a comprehensive school
    to career program. Beginning in 9th grade
    students will be expected to complete in class
    projects and will be given information each year
    to help them to develop the skills necessary to
    select and be successful in whatever career they
    choose.

Career Paths
  • Students may choose to participate in the career
    path program. This program requires that students
    take specific courses which will reward them with
    a certificate within that given career path. Most
    career paths offer on-the-job mentoring with a 76
    hour internship in the chosen area.

Regional Occupational Programs
  • The Hart District Regional Occupational Program
    (R.O.P.) is a public education service that
    provides practical on-the-job training and career
    guidance to students in the Santa Clarita Valley
    who are 16 years of age or older.
  • High School Students who are in 11th and 12th
    grades, out-of-school youth and adults may enroll
    in ROP for any of the following reasons
  • to learn entry-level employment skills
  • to prepare for career advancement by upgrading
    existing job skills
  • prepare for advanced training programs
  • retrain for a new career
  • ROP programs are offered at various schools
    throughout the district.
  • ROP programs offer students the opportunity to
    have hands on experience in a number of fields.

AFJROTC
  • Students enrolled in AFJROTC learn about military
    courtesies, customs and command structures
    leadership, discipline . All cadets have
    opportunities to participate in activities such
    as field trips to military bases, flights on
    military aircraft, military balls, and community
    service. Cadets wear the Air Force uniform during
    the school day once per week.

  • ECHS - Early College High School
  • Students enroll during the spring semester of 8th
    grade. Applications will be coming to RN soon!
  • 9-12th grade
  • Allows students to complete college courses at
    the same time they complete high school
    requirements
  • AOC - Academy of the Canyons
  • Students enroll after completing two years at a
    comprehensive high school such as VHS
  • 11th and 12th grade
  • Allows students to complete college courses at
    the same time they complete high school
    requirements
