  in choosing rigorous classes
• Algebra Readiness Initiative supports rigor in

• Springboard AP readiness for high school (teacher
  training this year)

• Cortez a self paced mathematics program
• Triumphant Learning software to develop PSAT

• Gizmos Program interactive simulations in math
  and science
• Kidbiz a web based interactive reading and
  writing program

• SREB commitment for training
• Literacy coaches for English and Math
• College Board training for counselors
• Springboard Training in lesson design for Math
  and English teachers
• Release time for teachers to work collegially to
  develop lesson plans and model for their peers

• On-line learning groups for teachers in reading
  and writing strategies
• SREB training for two schools per year in Getting
  Ready for High School in Science, Math and
  English
• Attendance at literacy conferences
• Supplemental resources to support the training
• Creation of web based lesson plans

SREB Support

• 45 hours of on-line training in Reading in the
  content areas
• 45 hours of lesson plan development
• Development of school based literacy plans
• Audits of individual schools to assess
  implementation

Anticipated Results

• Full accreditation and AYP success for all middle
  schools
• Teachers equipped to provide rigor for all
  students
• More students prepared to enroll in AP and honors
  courses in high school
• Higher SAT scores
