- In spite of the preparation of the tourism
specialists at
the various universities of the country beginning
from 1999, their quality and quantity was not
satisfactory. - Thats why a decree about the establishment of
the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute was
given.

14Library at Azerbaijan Tourism Institute
ATI body started on founding library from the
first days of establishment. On April 10, 2007,
an official opening ceremony for the Library took
place at ATI with participation of the delegation
from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the
Republic of Azerbaijan. There is 1523 copies of
books in ATI library at the present time. These
books are in Azerbaijani, English, Russian as
well as in Turkish language. The collection of
the library consists of the donation from the
Organizations to be listed below Heydar Aliyev
Foundation National Academy of Science Ministry
of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of
Azerbaijan, Bogazichi University of Turkish
Republic United States embassy in the Republic of
Azerbaijan United Nations office in the Republic
of Azerbaijan UN World Tourism Organization Baku
Travel and Excursion Bureau and others We are
highly appreciate and thank all organizations
which support our library

16Student body
ATI has 200 student and admit 300 Students this
year. Students admission to the Institute
provided through the State Admission Exam held by
the Student Admission State Commission. Last year
ATI had some of the students admitted with the
high grade score 628 when 700 was maximum. More
than half of the students were admitted to ATI
with more than 500 grades. The lower grade for
admittance to ATI was 304, with 200 score
minimum. This year the highest score for
admittance to ATI raised to 659 score. The lower
grade for admittance this year was 308 score with
250 Students body is active part of the ATI. Some
student awarded with part time work at ATI
helping with administrative issues.

IMC University Krems/Austria) - Local coordinator university of the exchange
programme between seven countries in the frame of
Erasmus-Mundus Programme (Italy, Portugal,
Greece, Latvia, France, Netherlands, Bulgaria) - Participation in the UNDP/Azerbaijan government
project Institutional Support to the Ministry of
Culture and Tourism to reduce poverty in the
Republic of Azerbaijan through facilitating
effective development of domestic tourism - Training opportunities for our students in
abroad.

18Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window
International contract with University of Applied
Science Krems/Austria
- ATI sign an international contract with the
University of Applied Sciences of Krems/Austria.
Due to this contract in the final year the
students who graduate the institute with honor
will be awarded the double-degree diploma. ATI
already started to prepare the students, teachers
and administrative stuff to be involved in this
contract. For thus, from the first year of the
studying English language have been added to
curriculum at the amount of hours more than major
subjects. Administrative staff also attends
seminars to improve language and communication
skills.
The International Relations and Projects office
of ATI already gained grant on the Erasmus Mundus
External Cooperation Window program. This
programm is designed to foster co-operation in
the field of higher education between the
European Union and Third- countries through a
mobility scheme addressing student and academic
exchange. ATI created a consortium with two
other Azerbaijani Universities Khazar
University and State University of Ganja an
applied for participation at this program. Our
application were admitted according to the
FRAMEWORK PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT NUMBER
132833-EM-1-2007-GR-ERA MUNDUS-ECW which have
been announced at June 9, 2007. At the present
time ATI is in process of signing contract
between consortium members. The first meeting of
the partners will take place at Thessaloniki,
Greece on 27-30 September, 2007.

- To support Azerbaijan Tourism Institute for mass
participation in higher education as a
contribution to raise the level of training
standards in this regions hotel, catering and
travel industry. - To become a student driven institution, committed
primarily to higher standards in teaching and
learning. - To support these aims by developing and
sustaining partnerships with other related
universal organizations dedicated to promoting
training in the hotel and catering industry. - To provide the printed documents, books, videos,
training packages for the individuals and
