- The High School and Middle School Scheduling
Configuration Committees were tasked with
proposing a cost-saving schedule.

- A series of meetings was held with select DTU
representatives and principals/administrators.

5Recommended Scheduling Configurations
- The high school committee recommended two
scheduling configurations. - One of the recommendations (straight 7-period)
did not provide a cost savings and did not have
Board support. - The second recommendation (7-period hybrid)
remained viable. - The high school committee recommended a reduction
of 45 minutes in the student day with the teacher
day remaining at 7.33 hours.
6Proposed High School Schedule7-Period Hybrid
- The proposed 7-period hybrid schedule is a
variation of the current high school schedule. - It includes the A/B 90-minute block for six
periods (3 A day and 3 B day). - The proposed schedule also includes one
45-minute skinny period that meets every day.
- The skinnys position within the schedule will be
determined by the school.

- The schools listed below are exceptions and will
continue with the current schedule due to their

The Middle School Committee recommended two
scheduling configurations
The Middle School Committee wanted to continue
offering two scheduling options (currently in
place) based on the needs of the student
population.
Both configurations represents a reduction of
45 minutes in the student day with the teacher
day remaining at 7.33 hours
11Proposed Middle School Schedule 7-Period Hybrid
- The proposed 7-period hybrid schedule is a
variation of the current middle school block
schedule. - It includes the A/B 90-minute block for six
periods (3 A day and 3 B day). - The proposed schedule also includes one
45-minute skinny period that meets every day.
- The skinnys position within the schedule will be
determined by the school. - Teachers will receive an average 90-minute
planning (daily).
12Proposed Middle School Schedule Straight 7 Period
- The proposed straight 7 schedule is a variation
of the current middle school 6 period day
schedule. - It includes opportunities for students to take 7
classes (45 minutes) daily. - The proposed schedule will require teacher
instruction 6 out of 7 periods (45 minutes)
daily. - The proposed straight 7 schedule will provide
teachers 90 minutes of planning (45 minutes
before or after the student day and 45 minutes
during the school day).

- The school listed below will continue its current
schedule due to program requirements. - LaVilla School of the Arts

Configuration
15Time Implications
This applies to most schools. Schools
currently on different start/dismissal times
would adjust accordingly. Although it is not
reflected on this schedule, the length of the
teacher workday remains at 7-1/3 hours.
