What to Recycle in Haywood County Its as easy as
  • A B C
  • Aluminum Cans Soda, Beer
  • FYI The United States uses over 80 billion
aluminum soda cans every year. An aluminum can
that is thrown away will still be a can 500 years
    from now.
  • Bottles/Glass Clear, Brown, and Green glass
which include beer, wine and variety of food
items. Sorry, only glass used as food or beverage
    items.
  • FYI A modern glass bottle would take 4000 years
or more to decompose -- and even longer if it's
    in the landfill.
  •
  • Cans Steel cans used for soup, dog food, coffee
and other items-whip cream bottles, too.
  • FYI The average family in the United States uses
90 pounds of steel cans a year. Recycling steel
would save 144 KWh of electricity 63 lbs of coal
112 lbs of iron 5.4 lbs of limestone.

What to Recycle in Haywood County Its as easy as
  • 1 2 Tree
  • Polyethylene Terephalate Ethylene (PETE)
bottles are used for soft drink, juice, water,
detergent, peanut butter and cleaner bottles.
  • FYI It takes 17 million barrels of oil to
manufacture plastic bottles or filling the bottle
¼ full with oil for the billions of bottles used
    annually.
  • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bottles are
used for milk, bleach, detergent, shampoo,
    butter tubs and water jugs.
  • Tree Catalogs, magazines, newspapers,
telephone books, third class mail and other
paper products, such as paper grocery bags.
    Corrugated cardboard and household cardboard
boxes (cereal, cracker, cake mix). If its a box
    in can be recycled!!
  • FYI Nearly 33 of waste going in to the landfill
is paper products that could be recycled.
