2Mission Statement
- Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club is
committed to the improvement of volleyball
players and coaches in the Gainesville area. It
is the goal for all GJVC participants to acquire
a love for the sport of volleyball, to develop as
players who are fundamentally and technically
sound, and to play against the best competition
regionally and nationally. It is also our
mission to help our players develop mutual
respect for all people, to learn the true meaning
of commitment, to foster the ability to put forth
maximum effort for the good of others, and to
become productive citizens.
3Affiliation
- Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club is a
member of the Florida Region of the United States
Volleyball Association. This organization is the
governing body for our USA Volleyball Olympic
program, as well as sponsoring Adult and Junior
play all over the country. All of our players,
coaches, and official chaperones are required to
be members of this association. Also, all events
and practices have to be sanctioned and approved
through USA Volleyball.
4Affiliation
- Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club is also a
member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Players and coaches on our younger teams will
participate in several AAU events in order to
further develop their skills and gain exposure to
the tournament volleyball setting, while
maintaining a manageable and financially
reasonable introduction to club volleyball.

92008 Review
- All 7 Black teams ranked in regional top 10
- 4 teams qualified for Nationals, tying OVA for
most teams qualified in the State of Florida. - 2 teams finished one spot out of qualifying.
- 5 College Scholarships signed, raising all-time
total to 65 Gainesville Juniors players that have
signed College Scholarships.
10Teams
- Team structure is designed to unify players of
equivalent skills. This may mean players of
greater ability and experience will be moved up. - 14U-18Us teams will play a highly competitive
National-level schedule with one or two National
Qualifiers. 12U-13Us teams will play a
Regional-level (Florida) schedule, with one or
two National Qualifiers. 10U and regional teams
will play a primarily-AAU schedule with a few
USAV Tournaments mixed in. - It is anticipated that multiple teams per age
group will be established. Total number of teams
is dependent on the number of players per age
group at tryouts and the number of quality
coaches available.
11Personal Commitment
- Players selected will be expected to have
volleyball as their first extracurricular
priority. - The expectation is that limited practices, and no
tournaments, will be missed, and that each player
put forward maximum effort at all times. - The club goal in each age group is to secure a
bid to the Junior Olympics (in Miami, FL. for
2009).
12Personal Commitment
- Players selected may expect to miss days of
school due to tournament scheduling and
Out-of-State travel. The Club will make every
effort to minimize lost days. - The commitments incumbent upon accepting a
position on a National Team - personal,
scholastic and financial - are significant.
13Team Composition
- Expected Players/Team 10
- Minimum Players 8
- Maximum Players 11
- More than 11 players may be assigned to a team
only with Executive Director approval.
14Coaches
- Each team will have ONE Head Coach.
- Each 1s level team will have at least one
Assistant Coach under contract. - Assistant Coaching assignments will be determined
by the Executive Director and Director of
Coaching after a review of the needs of the
individual team.
15Best Coaching in Gainesville!
- Gainesville Juniors 2009 Coaching Staff is the

responsibility to be aware of practice times and
