  • Contracted by eating food contaminated with eggs.
  • People swallow the eggs when they put dirty hands
    or vegetables into their mouths.
  • The eggs will hatch in the intestines, move to
    the bloodstream, then to the lungs where they are
    coughed up and swallowed to start the cycle again.

  • Contracted by walking barefoot on soil containing
    eggs.
  • Larvae bore through feet
  • Common in warm climates and areas of poor
    sanitation.

  • Contracted by eating food such as uncooked pork
  • Cysts in meat release larvae which burrow through
    the intestines and into muscles.

  • Female lives in lower intestine. At night she
    migrates out of the anus to lay her eggs.
