6PILANESBERG GAME RESERVE
Southern Africa is famous for its wildlife, the
thousands of species of animals, birds, insects,
marine life, trees and plants. The many excellent
game reserves offer close encounters with
elephants, lions, crocodiles, vultures,
butterflies, and all other weird and wonderful
living beings that inhabit our subcontinent. The
Pilanesberg National Park is one of the prominent
game reserves in South Africa, situated alongside
the ridge of an ancient volcano. A circular
mountainous mass rises abruptly 300 metres above
the floor of the plain and in this extraordinary
exposure of alkaline rock, the park provides a
sanctuary for many of the species of wild animals
which once roamed this area.
7PILANESBERG GAME RESERVE

wildlife encounters at the campfire dinner under
the starry skies while the night settles in on
the darkening veld!

an intricate social structure and one can watch
for hours how they interact with one another.
They are known to mourn their dead, fiercely
protect their wounded, and can develop a trust
relationship with humans. A meeting with these
amazing creatures is a moving experience. Shake
hands (trunks), feed them some delicacies and go
on an elephant-back game-walk!

experience! Maropeng is a state-of-the-art
exhibition which portrays the evolution of
humans in an ever-changing environment. The
