Relative Pronouns
  • Relative pronouns begin a subordinate clause and
    connects it to another idea in the sentence.
  • Subordinate means to be under the control of
    someone or something else.
  • Subordinate is opposite of independent therefore
    it cannot stand alone.

  • Independent clause Can stand alone
  • Alex crashed his car.
  • Dependent clause Cannot stand alone even though
    it has a subject and verb.
  • That he bought yesterday
  • Alex crashed his car that he bought yesterday.
