ASMSAs Office of Distance Education offers a
diverse curriculum which includes coursework in
mathematics, science, language arts, fine arts,
social studies and foreign languages. Our
Supplemental Educational Services coursework has
historically included elementary reading,
elementary mathematics, algebra and geometry. As
a public institution, all ASMSA-generated
coursework conforms to applicable state
frameworks. Syllabi, lesson plans and other
supporting documents are available online at

6Supplemental Educational Services at ASMSA
While standards for our SES courses necessarily
vary by age level, students in all reading and
language arts classes are expected to demonstrate
grade level-appropriate listening, oral
communication, verbal and written comprehension,
and writing skills. Students in mathematics
courses are expected to demonstrate mastery of
grade-level appropriate mathematical concepts.
7Supplemental Educational Services at ASMSA
To help ensure student success, ASMSA maintains a
close working relationship with all partner
districts. With the aid of the Departments
Administrative Assistant, the ODE Department
Chair serves as the institutional liaison with
district superintendents and principals at
schooled served by ASMSA. Departmental faculty
are responsible for communication with site
facilitators and parents. All SES classes can be
taught in one to one, small group (less than 5)
or large group (5 to 10) according to the needs
of the enrolled school.
