What is being done for our safety?

• National Amusement Park Safety Act Allows
  Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
  oversight over mobile rides only
  
• Amusement parks with fixed rides supply their own
  specialist to inspect and maintain rides
  
• Representative Ed Markey sponsored a bill to give
  CPSC jurisdiction over rides at fixed sites
  
• In Washington state, all types of rides (go-karts
  soon to be added) are regulated for safety issues
  by state officials

For our safety?

• Eleven states still do not have regulatory laws
  governing amusement park rides according to the
  CPSC
  
• Theme parks in Florida are exempt from all
  requirements of the regulatory system. State
  amusement ride safety officials are prohibited
  from investigating accidents or inspecting rides
  at Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, Busch
  Gardens, etc
