Know Lewis and Clark

• Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were hired by
  Thomas Jefferson to explore the land the U.S
  bought from the French.

Starting the exploration

• Lewis and Clark accepted the job and set out into
  the new land. They also kept notebooks to record
  what they saw.

Sacagawea

• Lewis and Clark had a little help from Sacagawea,
  an Indian from the Sioux tribe, helped them find
  their way.

The Mountains

• Lewis and Clark had another goal, to get to the
  Pacific Ocean. They had to climb the Rocky
  Mountains.

How they started

• In 1803 Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on
  the expedition.

Time

• The expedition took till 1804 to 1806 and they
  traveled a long way.

Clarks childhood

• Clark was the youngest of six sons.
• He served in the militia at the age of nineteen.

Lewis childhood

• Born in Virginia
• Joined the militia at the age of 20

Life Line

• William Clark was born on August 1, 1770 and died
  in September 1838. Meriwether Lewis was born on
  August 18, 1774 and died in September 1809.
