A. UNWTOUNITED NATIONS WORLD TOURISM
ORGANIZATION

  • The UNWTO is a specialized agency of the UN and
    the leading international organization in the
    field of tourism.
  • Based in headquarters in Madrid.
  • Its history starts in 1925 when International
    Union of Official Tourist Publicity Organizations
    set up in the Hauge.
  • After the WW2, it was renamed as WTO and the
    first general assembly was held in Madrid in
    1975.
  • Members from 160 countries and territories and
  • more than 350 affiliate members representing the
  • private sector, educational institutions,
    tourism
  • associations ?and local tourism authorities.
  • Turkey is a UNWTO member is 1975.

TÜRSAB Accesible Tourism for AllProject
  • Official research by Turkish Prime Ministry
    Administration for Disabled People (OZIDA)
    indicates that total disability proportion in the
    overall population is 12.29 .
  • The proportion of orthopedically, seeing,
    hearing, speaking and mentally disabled people is
    2.58 and the proportion of people having
    chronic illnesses is 9.70 (about 6.6 million).

TÜRSAB Accesible Tourism for AllProject
  • Turkey has undersigned and accepted the most
    important international  agreements and
    declaration on disability issue (EU ,Barcelona).
  • The policy of EU regarding persons with
    disabilities is not only based on rehabilitation
    but also on their integration to the society 
    considering this issue as a matter of human
    right.
  • Their adaptation to the society and giving them
    equal opportunities are the main starting points.
  • Transportation, environment, public health,
    regional development and social policies are also
    the area where disability must be taken its
    consideration.

TÜRSAB Accesible Tourism for AllProject
  • With this approach, new process has begun in all
    sectors, particularly in tourism sector.
  • New hotels, facilities. Holiday villages and
    youth camps offer more and more accessible
    accommodations for disabled and elderly people
    with mobility problems.
  • (i.e. ACT Hotel in Marmaris with its 26
    accessible rooms and 2 accessible transfer busses
    and Alternative Camp where have been already
    hosted 5000 disabled guests since 2002.)
  • Day by day,  travel agencies and/or hotels
    themselves have safe, reliable and accessible
    transportation for different target groups and
    the service providers are more focused on having
    well-trained staff on disability.

    the same roof

    Guides.
  • It consists of tourist guide guilds and
    associations with more than 5-6 thousand members

  • TUREB was founded by
  • considering the problem of formation of shared
    opinion and representation caused by the fact
    that the professional organizations of Turkish
    tourist guides are gathered under different
    identities and associations
  • accepting that tourist guides must gather under a
    uniform organization, tourist guiding must be
    recognized as a profession
  • TUREB is a member of the World Federation of
    Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) and European

  • World Tourist Guides Day On 21 February each

  • Consumer Rights TUREB has started the first
    discussions concerning consumer rights in Turkish
    tourism, and organized conferences and panels

    Association (TYD) is a private non-governmental

    tourism sector and provide assistance in their
    present problems and future plans. to
    announce the importance of tourism investments to
    the public. to increase market share of
    Turkish tourism in World tourism.
  • One of TYDs activities is to assist and achieve

    their local counterparts who are interested in
