What is a Small Unit Web Site?

• The Small Unit Website Template was designed so
  that any person capable of typing can quickly get
  unit information posted to internet. The
  information is collected from the user via a
  simple form, once complete the user clicks submit
  and their units internet website is dynamically
  created utilizing the collected information.

What you need to have . . .

• A MFR user account
• A computer that belongs to either the MFR or NMCI
  domain
• A standard web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer,
  Netscape, etc)

Obtaining Small Unit Web Site

• ISC must submit trouble ticket to MFR G6 KM
  section via the internet or via phone
• Example
• Unit would like to begin using the Small Unit
  Website Template, our internet website URL is
  http//www.mfr.usmc.mil/hq/g6
• Within approx. 24 hours, a web developer from KM
  will call you and walk you through the steps as
  well as provide any updated information

Basic information you will need

• Unit specific information (your units' name,
  address, duty phone numbers, fax number, etc)
• Contact information (CO, XO, SgtMaj, etc)
• Unit event information (Family Day, volunteer
  efforts, etc)
• Please note very little information is actually
  required for you to be able to use the application

Process ISC / Web Master will go through

• Add and/or modify your units data via the
  edit.asp form
• Click submit
• Review your development site
• Either call the MFR G6 Help Desk or contact your
  ISC to have a trouble ticket submitted to the MFR
  G6 KM section
• Typical trouble ticket - "I have updated my units
  internet website using the Small Unit Website
  Template, please publish the content from
  http//wwwdev.mfr.usmc.mil/hq/g6 to
  http//www.mfr.usmc.mil/hq/g6"
• Within about 24 hours your content will be
  published from the development server to the
  production ("live") server

• This web tool was created to fulfill the basic
  requirement to post information to the internet,
  keep your content short and simple
• Review your website carefully before requesting
  to have it published
• Please remember that we too have very limited
  resources
• Submit a trouble ticket!!! Information passed
  via phone conversation and/or e-mail is harder to
  manage
