area near Coopers Green - Redrooffs named for colour of cabin rooftops
- Store, recreation hall, wharf, several cabins
- Jim Cooper bought the resort in 1945
- Cooper family sold it to SCRD in 1985 for 260,000

- Langdale Queen (Kahloke) finally retired in 1976
- Steam ship launched in 1903 in Philadelphia,
called the Asbury Park - Was called the City of Sacramento 1925-53 when it
was a San Francisco Bay ferry - Parts of her survived until 2005!

- Wrecked on reefs off Merry Island on February 7,
1925 - Was attempting to rescue two Davis rafts lost by
tug Cape Scott - Crew was rescued by Cape Scott
- Timbers of tug were used to construct a small
cabin on Merry Island still there
39S.S. Cowichan 1925
- Collided in fog with Lady Cynthia off Roberts
Creek on December 27, 1925 - Cowichan sank in 11 minutes, Cynthia was OK
- All passengers, crew safely transferred to Lady
Cynthia no serious injuries - Exact location still unknown despite 1997
discovery!
