- Removing Barriers to Achievement, 2004
- IDP originally proposed in the governments SEN
strategy - National Curriculum Statutory Inclusion
statement 2000 2007 - The Inclusion Statement sets out three key
principles for effective inclusion - SEN and Disability Discrimination Act 2001,
Disability Discrimination Act 2005 - Access to the curriculum, disability equality
duty
4Aims of the IDP
- Improve capacity of schools and individual staff
to support children with a range of SEN by - 1. Increasing confidence and knowledge of
practitioners - 2. Promoting early recognition and intervention
- This will
- Improve outcomes for all pupils and narrow the
gap - Intended for mainstream practitioners to help in
meeting high incidence of SEN in mainstream
settings and schools.

resource via twilight training sessions run by
PAST in January/February 2009 details to
follow. - Raise awareness, understanding and use of the
resource - Assistance to further develop their strategies
and approaches to respond diverse needs - Encouraging the linking and embedding of the IDP
into the cycle of change - Primary and Secondary consultants will be trained
in relevant sections of the IDP
