4FS RD FY2008 Program
- Increase Investment in
- Tools to support risk-based management of
wildland fires - Biomass marketing and utilization
- Biocontrol of weeds
5FSPro and RAVARRelating Fire Spread Probability
to values at risk
Vegetation, topography and historic and current
weather data are combined with a landscape fire
spread model to predict the probability of fire
spread over a given time period. Highest
probabilities are in red. Data on location of
building clusters and values can be overlaid on
these Probability Zones to help firefighters
determine how to best allocate resources to
protect life, safety, and public and private
values.
