11The Application Process Step by Step
- Apply online to each of your colleges.
- Print Secondary School Report (Counselor Report)
and turn in to Mrs. Johnson. - Print Teacher Recommendation forms (if any) and
give to your teachers when you request a
recommendation. - Follow directions CAREFULLY.
- Turn in your resume to Mrs. Johnson.
- Complete the Parent/Student Information form and
give it to your counselor. - Register for the SAT or ACT again, if needed.

- See Mrs. Johnson in the Counseling Office to sign
your Secondary School Report. - Complete Greensheet (Tracking Sheet/Transcript
Request) for each college. Turn in to Mrs.
Johnson. - Mrs. Johnson does not need envelopes.
- Make copies of any application materials before
sending. - BEAT ALL DEADLINES!
13Checking Application Status
- Approximately 2 to 3 weeks after mailing your
application, check its status with the Admissions
Office to be sure your application is complete. - Ways to check application status

- Automatic Admission for students in Top 25 with
1300 SAT/30 ACT, but must have - 600 minimum on SATs Critical Reading and Math
- 27 minimum on ACTs Math and English
- Top 10/Automatic Admits must have complete file
in office by December 1 for preference to be
given to your first choice of major. - Wait List and Blinn TEAM assigned by AM
- Apply for housing only after youre admitted.

16 Letters of Recommendation Counselor
- The Parent/Student Information Form Resume
MUST be turned in before a recommendation
letter can be written. - You must REQUEST a counselor recommendation on
your Greensheet - Be considerate give your counselor AT LEAST
three weeks to write your letter before it must
be MAILED.
17Letters of Recommendation Teachers
- Politely ask for teacher recommendations.
- Be sensitive to a teachers hesitancy.
- Give plenty of notice AT LEAST 3 weeks
- Provide the teacher with
- - your resume
- - names of colleges deadline dates
- - any college Teacher Recommendation forms
- - stamped addressed envelopes ( with no
return address) - It is the responsibility of the student to follow
up - with the teacher to make sure deadlines are met.
- Write a thank you note to the teacher.
18Letters of Recommendation Outside
- Use Caution
- Outside letters should provide important
information about you that the application does
not address. - If your file is filled with extra letters, the
admissions committee might never read the
important letter from your teacher who saw your
great potential and academic growth.
19NCAA Clearinghouse
- Do you hope to play Division I or Division II
college athletics? - Your eligibility MUST be cleared by the NCAA.
- Eligibility applications are available online at
www.ncaa.org

- Process for military academy appointments should
have begun in the junior year. - See Mr. Mamula for information
