Eichmann Early Life-World War II
Adolf Eichmann was born in Solingen, Germany in
1906. Eichmanns family moved to Austria during
World War I where his father served in the
Austro-Hungarian Army. Eichmann left high school
without receiving his degree. In 1932 he enlisted
in the SS. In 1933 when the Nazis came to power
Eichmann returned to Germany. At the start of
World War II Eichmann was promoted to captain. In
1942 Eichmann was put in charge of all the trains
that transported Jews to death camps. In 1944 he
made a deal to trade European Jews to the Western
Allies for trucks and goods. When there was no
positive response to his offer Eichmann started
deporting Jews, sending 430,000 to their death in
gas chambers.

Eichmann After World War II
At the end of World War II Eichmann was captured
by the U.S. Army. In 1946 he escaped U.S. custody
and hid in Germany for years. In 1948 he obtained
a landing permit for Argentina, which he didnt
use directly. In 1950 he fled to Italy, from
there he boarded a plane to Argentina. He would
hide there for the next 10 years. In 1960 he was
captured by Shin Bet agents (Israel Security).
Eichmanns trial was held in Jerusalem 1961 which
included 15 criminal charges. He was convicted of
all charges and given the death penalty. Eichmann
was hung May 31, 1962. His body was cremated and
his ashes were scattered in the Mediterranean
Sea, so no country would serve as his final
resting place.
