The Costs
The film industry traditionally has been
considered high-risk in terms of investment
opportunity. The Company believes that this stems
from Hollywoods status quo of layering on heavy
expenses before and during production, which
requires a film to perform in a blockbuster
fashion at the box office to return a profit to
the investors. The problem with the traditional
Hollywood model is that the films investors
experience diminished returns as the incremental
costs layered onto the film flow straight to the
bottom line. Unlike the status quo model
described above, the Producers are committed to
undertake certain unusual steps, from the
perspective of industry practice. The following
factors collectively represent a sweat equity
contribution by the Producers, which is an
important competitive differentiator as the
Company will be able to bring to market a high
quality feature film for a fraction of the cost
of other studios
31
Entertaining The Future
The average film budget for Motion Picture
Association (MPA) members once the new private
equity money is factored in - grew from 46.9
million to 63.2 million between 2004 and 2007,
inflating total MPA film expenses from 9.7
billion to nearly 13.2 billion over that time,
an average of about 10 annually. Meanwhile,
worldwide revenue from those films shrank from
36.6 billion in 2004 to 34.9 billion in 2007.
U.S. Major Studio Film Entertainment Revenue is
expected to Approach 42 Billion By 2011.
32
Industry experts approximate that a movies
worldwide gross revenue potential equals five
time the movies domestic theatrical gross
revenues. In addition to theatrical revenue
streams other categories include Foreign and
domestic DVD sales, pay-per-view, broadcast
rights (foreign and domestic, new media(internet
