2Dr. Abdul Rao USF has contributed immensely in
the field of medical sciences. Over the years his
dedication and hard work has been acknowledged as
a great input in the advancements of medical
sector. Till date, he has been awarded with
numerous honors such as British Vice Chancellor's
Committee
3Professor Ad Honorem, Universidada de Antioquia,
Medellin, Columbia Distinguished Professor Award
by The Institute of Kidney Diseases Research
Center, Ahmedabad, India, etc. Dr. Abdul Rao USF
is an extremely intelligent personality. He has
authored more than 130 publications in peer
reviewed journals and book chapters.
4Other than that, he has presented more than 180
lectures and served the editorial board of the
journal Transplantation and Graft. Besides, he
has worked as the reviewer for Immunology, Life
Sciences, Nature Medicine, Liver Transplantation
Surgery, Surgery, and many other scientific
journals.
5He has mentored more than 25 junior faculty and
post-doctoral fellows and more than 20
pre-doctoral candidates. He has also served the
USF Health as Vice Dean for Research and Graduate
Studies for the College of Medicine as the Senior
Associate Vice President for Research and
Graduate Studies.
6Furthermore, he also played a vital role in
Tennessee Council of Graduate Deans by
spearheading a mission to transform the education
and training of doctoral students in social
sciences and physical sciences.
7About Dr. Abdul Rao Dr. Abdul S. Rao did his
medical degree from Dow Medical University,
Karachi, Pakistan, in 1983. After completing his
residency training in Orthopedic Surgery, Abdul
Rao USF joined the Department of Physiology,
Boston University School of Medicine and
graduated in 1989 with a M.A., in Physiology.
8He completed a year of post-doctoral Research
Fellowship in the Department of Neurology,
Harvard Medical School. Dr. Abdul Rao joined the
Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of
Oxford, Oxford, UK, as a Clinical Instructor from
1990-1993. He graduated from the University of
Oxford with a D.Phil., (Doctor of Philosophy) in
Transplantation Immunology in 1993.
