008 SIMPLE METHOD TO CLEAN WASTE WATER
Canna indica is used for treatment of waste
water. These plants can be used to treat
domestic waste water by the modified root zone
method.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Four containers with outlets Gravel, Pebbles,
Sand Grey water (Water from place where we wash
clothes and have bath)

Use plastic bread box or jars. connect tube at
side. 1) Grey water sample from bathroom or
laundry water 2) Gravel (large size blue
metal) 3) A small layer of pebbles till the
outlet level followed by coarse sand and plants
such as Canna indica in it. 4) Collection
vessel Canna indica improves the hydraulic
conductivity of the soil bed and creates active
soil structure through the growth of roots and
rhizomes. The microbes associated with root zone
help in clean up of the water. The clean water
can be used for watering plants.
