1The Whole Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
Ephesians 610-18

3The Armor of God
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
412For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the
heavenly places.

5The Armor of God
13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore,
having girded your waist with truth, having put
on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having
shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel
of peace 16above all, taking the shield of faith
with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one.
6The Armor of God
17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God
18praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with
all perseverance and supplication for all the
saints

- 1John 54 And this is the victory that has
overcome the world our faith. - So when do you win?
- Society teaches that you win when you get what
you want when you want it. - The Bible teaches that you win not when you get
what you want, but the moment you believe.
10The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- Defining faith in practical terms, faith in God
is - Trusting in Gods word as truth.
- Trusting that God will provide for our needs.
- Trusting that God will protect us from evil.
- Believing that God is with us and lives in us.
- Believing that Christs sacrifice paid the
penalty for our sin, reconciling us to God. - Believing that through faith we have Christs
authority over evil powers.
11The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- Above all, taking (seizing) the shield of faith
with which you will be able (have the power) to
quench (extinguish) all the fiery darts of the
wicked one. - But what is faith? Hebrews 111.
- Faith is the substance of things hoped for the
evidence of things not seen. - Romans 107 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God.
12The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- In our human weakness, we may find it difficult
to trust and believe God as we should. - Hebrews 122.
- God through our Lord Jesus Christ is the author
and finisher of our faith. - We can and should ask God to build our faith.
- Mark 923-25
13The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith Enemies Tactics
- Primary tactic is to persuade us to believe lies.
- Once we believe lies, our shields are
deactivated. - The enemy gains access to our hearts.
- The devils goal is to persuade us to make our own
provision instead of trusting God for His. - The fiery darts (temptations) inflame our sinful
desires (lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes,
pride of life) by stirring up our thoughts to
fulfill them. - Our faith based on Gods truth protects us
because we dont believe the lies of the enemy.
14The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ! In His mercy He has given us a new
birth into a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an
inheritance that can never perish, spoil or
fade--kept in heaven for you, who through faith
are shielded by Gods power until the coming of
the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the
last time. 1 Peter 13-5
15The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- Jesus explained faith as believing and receiving.
- Mark 1123-24.
- Jesus said believe when you pray.
- If you have faith when you pray, it will come to
pass. - This is how we use the shield of faith!
16The Armor of God
The Shield of Faith
- We obtain the shield of faith by studying and
hearing the Word of God. - The word of God is what faith is based upon.
- You must speak (apply) the Word of God to your
situation (circumstances) according to Gods
truth. - How do we express to God that we have faith while
we are waiting for answers to prayers? - We praise Him!
