    communities, extend more financial assistance,
    etc

    operating budget from 750,000 to 1.7 M
  • Create VP Marketing and Communications no
    longer CDOs responsibility
  • COO Drives annual campaign shift responsibility
    for planning and execution of annual campaign to
    COO
  • COO Drives philanthropy culture our goal is to
    have all staff, volunteers and members truly
    embrace YMCA philanthropy

2. Create YMCA Open Doors Fund Council
  • considered separate Foundation
  • opted to build a council within Y constitution
    and bylaws
  • focusing on long term donor stewardship (break
    capital campaign cycle)
  • seeking annual, capital and endowment gifts
  • 30 Council members each raising minimum of
    100,000 per year 3 M annually by 2009/10

3. Province-wide Strong Kids Campaign
  • All 27 YMCAs in Ontario share campaign name,
    website, 1-800 , brochures, media ads and timing
  • 500,000 invested in media campaign
  • 3 year commitment and exploring taking nationally
  • Supplemented by direct mail and email campaign
  • Direct marketing to produce 300,000 annually by
    2009/10

4. Donor Centred, Major Gift Program
  • Focusing on top 10 of our Associations 12,000
    donors
  • One staff / 150 donors
  • Average gift from 1,000 in year one to 5,000 in
    year 5 (each staff produces between 500k and
    750k annually)
  • Program to produce 5 M annually by 2009/10

5. Explore Sponsorship Program
  • deepen connections with corporate donors and
    partners
  • leads to increased public awareness
  • generates new funds funded from their marketing
    budgets
  • corporations receive value and do not receive
    tax receipt
  • We expect to realize 1 M annually by 2009/10

6. Build Endowment
  • Plan to grow from 214 to 375 Heritage Club
    members (grown by 96 over past 2 years)
  • Seeking an Endowment Challenge gift (500,000
    challenge gift raised 1.5 M from 76 donors)
  • Expect to raise 2.75 M in actual and/or deferred
    gifts by 2010

7. Build Back of House Support Systems
  • Pre 2005 back of house consisted of one full
    time staff, today we have 5 who focus solely on
    data entry, gift and tax receipt processing,
    pledge follow ups and ongoing donor stewardship
    and communication
  • introduced online giving and significantly
    enhanced our web www.ymcatoronto.org
  • introduced province-wide online giving site
    www.ymcastrongkids.ca
  • by 2010 hope to have 50 of our donors (250 and
    lower) giving online and 100 staff
