The Family

• Artemis helped women at childbirth, but caused
  death with her arrows.
• Artemis parents were Zeus and Leto.
• Artemis had a brother, Apollo, who was the god of
  prophesy, music, and healing.

The Insult, and the Revenge

• There is a part in a myth that says Artemis was
  born first, and helped her mother, Leto, to
  deliver Apollo.
• Niobe, queen of Therbe, once boasted that she was
  better than Leto because had many kids, and Zeus
  and Leto had only two.
• Artemis and Apollo avenged the insult by killing
  most or all of her kids.
• She weeped, and then was turned to stone, still
  weeping.

The Arrows Strike

• As soon as Apollo found out that Artemis was
  spending too much time hunting with a giant named
  Orion, he immediately went to end the
  relationship.
• He challenged Artemis to a shooting contest. She
  had to shoot an object that was in the air with
  her arrow.
• The floating item was actually Orions head.

Her Features

• Artemis is dressed in buckskin.
• She always carries around her bow and arrows.
• Her company is usually a she-bear or other wild
  animals.

Heras Mean Words

• Hera once said in the Trojan war while she
  grabbed Artemis by the wrists "Are you
  proposing to stand up to me? I know your bow and
  arrows, and what lioness you are to women, whom
  Zeus allows you to destroy at your discretion
  but if you match yourself with me you will regret
  it.
