  • Flexion, ABD, ER
  • Positive hip or SI joint

SI Joint Compression and Distraction Test
  • Compression supine
  • Distraction supine or side lying
  • Evaluation
  • Compression overpressure to ASIS
  • Distraction
  • Down pressure through anterior aspect of ilium

Gaenslens Test
  • Pt Position supine close to edge of table
  • Near leg over edge
  • Opposite leg move into flexion
  • Apply overpressure to near leg into
    hyperextension
  • Positive pain ipsilateral SI joint

  • True Leg Length Discrepancy
  • Measure ASIS to medial malleolus
  • Positive 1-1.5 cm
  • Apparent (Functional) Leg Length
  • Umbilicus to Medial malleolus

  • Pt Position standing on one leg with WB leg
    being the involved limb
  • Positive pelvis on opposite side drops
  • Indications weak Gluteua medius

  • Pt Position supine with knees bent over the
    table
  • Evaluation
  • One hand under lordotic curve
  • Passively flex hip to chest
  • Allow opposite leg to rest on table
  • Positive knee move into extension or leg rises
    off table

  • Pt Position supine with both leg on table
  • Evaluation
  • One hand under lumbar region
  • Passively flex one leg to chest
  • Positive straight leg raises off table
  • Increased lordotic curve

  • Pt Position side-lying on univolved side with
    test leg in 60 degrees of hip flexion
  • Evaluation
  • Stabilize pelvis, apply an adduction force to
    knee
  • Positive pain or tightness in hip
  • Pain in buttocks sciatic nerve impingement

  • Pt Position prone with pillow under abdomen
  • Evaluation
  • Passively extend hip with knee flexed to 90
    degrees
  • Positive pain in anterior and/or lateral thigh
  • Implication nerve root impingement L2-L4
