Cut an onion in to few pieces. Peal the thin
membrane from the inner side of this piece. Tie
this membrane to one end of refill tube carefully
using thread. Fill half of this tube with sugar
solution and mark the as level L1. Place this
tube in a beaker containing water and support the
tube with card board to stand erect.

After one hour observe change in the level of
sugar solution. Record is as L2. Note the
movement of water through the peel which is due
to Osmosis. Take tomato peel in place of onion
and repeat experiment.
