• One strip of FEP
• One strip of extruded ePTFE
• Both materials sold under trade-name Teflon, by
  Dupont

Goal

• Determine the time to heat a given strip of FEP
  with heat gun to melting temperature as to bond
  with strip of ePTFE

• Air jet is circular
• Uniform Temperature on FEP surface

• FEP insulated by ePTFE

Results

• To reach the desired temperature of 573 K, the
  FEP requires .76 sec in the hot air stream
  produced by the heat gun.

• Because the ePTFE was assumed a perfect
  insulator, the actual time required to reach the
  desired temperature would be increased.
