4Defining IE7
- Internet Explorer 7.0 replaces Internet Explorer
6.0 - Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE7) is Microsofts latest
version of their browser software. This new
release contains new features including a new
look, and better security. Users can upgrade to
IE7 with Windows automatic updates or by
downloading the software directly from
Microsoft.
5Upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.0
- Upgrading to IE7 using Windows automatic updates
- Open Internet Explorer 6.0.
- Click on Tools.
- Select and click Windows Update.
- Click Custom.
- Select the Checkbox for IE7.
- Click Review and install updates.

follow the IE7 installation procedures.

- Go to http//www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/dow
nloads/default.mspx - Click Download for the Internet Explorer 7.0 for
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) version. - Click Continue
- Click Download.
- Click Run.
- Continue to Page 8 of this presentation and
follow the IE7 installation procedures.

- Phishing filter
- Phishing is an attempt to get users to reveal
sensitive information which can lead to identity
theft. Phishers send unsolicited email (Spam) to
users to lure them to a website to update
personal information such as passwords, bank
account numbers, and credit card information.
These websites appear to belong to legitimate
businesses, but actually send information to the
phishers. The phishing filter helps to identify
suspicious websites. Microsoft recommends
turning on the phishing filter when installing
Internet Explorer 7.0.

- RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich
Site Summary. It is used to publish frequently
updated digital content such as news or
podcasts. RSS feeds provide a convenient way to
group information from a variety of sources,
including news stories and updates from Web

- Deleting temporary Internet files
- Temporary Internet files (cache) are stored on
your hard disk to speed up loading frequently
visited web pages. Eventually these files
accumulate, slowing the computers response
time, and should be deleted periodically. - Open Internet Explorer 7.0.
- Click on the Tools menu.
- Click Internet Options.
