Title: Citing Your Sources

1
Citing Your Sources
  • Using MLA and APA Style Auto Fill-in websites

2
Using MLA and APA
  • The MLA format is the first taught citation
format for students. It is relatively familiar to
most high school students. However it can still
    be tricky.
  • APA format is not usually introduced until the
college level and because of its difference from
MLA it is often confusing for students.
  • By using online reference tools with automated
fill-in, citing your sources in MLA and APA
    format will be a breeze.

EasyBib for MLA format
  • EasyBib was created in 2000 to help students
    create accurate bibliographies.
  • Students can go to the EasyBib website, enter
their source information and have a full
    alphabetized MLA bibliography at their
    fingertips.
  • The bibliography can then be emailed or saved and
exported to their word processing program and
    added to their paper.

CitationMachine for MLA and APA
  • CitationMachine is another online resource used
for creating bibliographies. It was created to
make students want to cite their sources instead
of it being a hassle to do so.
  • The CitationMachine website allows the user to
pick from either MLA or APA formats. The student
must enter their source information on the site
and a formatted bibliography results. However, in
this webtool, the user must cut and paste the
automated entries into their word processing
    document.

KnightCite for MLA and APA
  • KnightCite is another great automated fill-in
bibliography site. It was created by Justin
Searles, a student at Calvin College.
  • KnightCite allows students to choose from MLA,
APA, and Chicago style formats. The student
enters the source information into the fields
listed and it produces a bibliographic entry for
    him.
