- The Teacher Education baccalaureate programs have
three levels of oversight - Program Approval with Florida State Board of
Education for - Baccalaureate Teacher Education (proposal
submitted - August, 2007 approved all 5 programs with
Memorandum of - Agreement in February 2008)
- Level II Accreditation with SACS (proposal
submitted April, 2008 - Level II membership awarded June, 2008
will be finalized with - site visit March, 2009)
- 3. Programmatic Approval with Florida
Department of Education (FLDOE) for Exceptional
Student Education (ESE) (proposal submitted
September, 2008 expected approval after
February, 2009, site visit expected)

graduates who hold an earned GPA of 2.5 or higher
meet the initial qualifications for this program
and will be the core of our specific outreach

(Response Center Information line) were trained
July 2008 and have been responding to inquiries
about the program - Web presence Bachelor Degree program
announcement, Supplemental Application and FAQs
on the home page, more specific web presence with
links with the academic program pages pending - Mail An information postcard was mailed on
Friday, October 24, 2008 - Automated call Follow up information blast to
the same pool on Monday, November 3rd as a follow
up to the Postcard - Campus Visibility Posters have been created from
the Post Card and will be posted on all campuses - Email Sent to all currently enrolled BC students
highlighting the BS in Education - degree with program links and financial

28ESE Program Viability and Demand
- More than 45,000 Broward County students are
categorized as Exceptional (ESE). Broward
County has over 190 ESE teaching vacancies per
year and FAU currently produces approximately 23
graduates - In 2007, 259 BC Education majors were surveyed.
- 82 were interested in pursuing a Baccalaureate
in Education through Broward College - 2,465 recent graduates, 120 average annual
program majors in BC AA Education programs are
the ESE Baccalaureate Teacher Education focus - Enrollment data indicates that currently enrolled
potential ESE Baccalaureate students attend
classes at multiple BC campuses
