Four Dynamic Program Themes
  • 1. Promotion and Prevention
  • This theme explores physiotherapy services which
    include health promotion, disease prevention and
    self-care for the management of chronic diseases
    and conditions which may include obesity, chronic
    pain, musculoskeletal conditions, cardiac
    disease, respiratory disease, and cancer.

  • 2. Entrepreneurial/Private Practice
  • The focus of this theme is on the
    entrepreneurial and/or the business aspect of
    physiotherapy, including business planning,
    marketing, staffing issues and fee structures
    within a private practice setting. Sessions will
    focus on how physiotherapists are involved in
    benchmarking activities and continuing quality
    improvement initiatives in a private practice
    setting to promote best business practices.

  • 3. Best Practice Knowledge Translation
  • Linking Research Practice
  • This theme will focus on projects, research or
    initiatives that support knowledge translation
    and exchange between research and clinical
    practice, and promote best practice in clinical
    settings. Sessions will demonstrate either the
    integration of research results into clinical
    practice or examples of how clinical questions
    can inform research.

  • 4. The Care Continuum and Service Delivery
  • This theme is related to the innovative means by
    which physiotherapists provide service throughout
    the care continuum including their role in
    primary health care reform. Sessions will also
    address different service delivery models
    including service within the community role of
    support personnel utilization of resources
    both human and organizational and the use of
    technology to improve service delivery.
