Battle of Yorktown

• In May of 1781, General Cornwalis arrived in
  Petersburg.
• Washington moved south and they surrounded the
  British.
• The British army ended up surrendering and ending
  the war.

Continental Congress

• 1774 the Continental Congress agreed to stop
  trading with Britain.
• The Congress voted to have all Americans to not
  drink tea from the East Indies.

Paul Reveres Warning

• In 1775, Paul Revere rode his horse between
  Medford and Lexington warning the towns.
• The British knew that the Colonists were armed in
  Concord.

Lexington and Concord

• 1775 the militiamen fought about 800 British
  soldiers on April 19th.
• The battle started in Concord and the British had
  73 people die and about 200 wounded.
• Americans had 49 people die and 39 wounded.

Bunker Hill Battle

• On June 17th, 1775 General Gage of the British
  force attacks on Americans.
• Americans had no choice but to withdraw from the
  battle and had 140 die and 271 wounded.
• British had a heavy loss with 226 dead and 828
  soldiers wounded.

Declaration of Independence

• 12 colonies voted for the Declaration of
  Independence.
• It meant that all of the Colonies would be free
  and independent.
• It was approved on July 4th, 1776.
