Technology NewsPay for File Swapping Service

• Would You Pay For a File-Swapping Service?
• Started with Napster over three years ago
• Now iMesh, KaZaA, Morpheus, and WinMX, etc.
• All offer free software clients
• StreamCast Networks (which offers Morpheus) and
  iMeshwill begin charging for new versions of
  their file-swapping clients
• These wont have any pop-up ads
• Will still offer free versions WITH the ads

• Yesterday tech stocks took another big beating
• Apple Computer warned
• Advanced Micro Devices warned
• Ciena warned
• Oracle warned
• The Department of Justice announced it is
  investigating chipmakers Micron Technology and
  Samsung for possible anti-competitive practices
• But, in a way, there is some good news!

• "The market has been remarkably resilient, given
  all the bad news of the last two or three days.
  That's a good sign," says Robert Lloyd, manager
  of the AIM Global Telecommunications and
  Technology Fund.
• Though strings of warnings are further examples
  that the outlook for technology doesn't appear to
  be improving, some managers are beginning to view
  the recent malaise as a buying opportunity for
  select stocks, a stark contrast to what some
  managers were saying a few weeks ago.
