Crash reminds us to buckle upDallas Morning
News 6/12/01
  • Crash reminds us to buckle up
  • Re Family, friends recall 6 killed in I-20
    crash, June 11.
  • I felt sick to my stomach. Its not the sort of
news that I want to read in the morning. It could
have been my family or yours. A father without
his wife and five of his children. A child
without his mother, brothers and sisters. God
    rest their souls.
  • You know what is the worst part? We let this
happen every day. I read another story recently
about a family of 11 or so and, if memory serves
me correctly, nine of them died. None was wearing
    seat belts, either.
  • Texans must be brought up differently to me.
Im Australian and the first thing I was taught
when I get in a car is to put my seat belt on. No
ifs or buts, its just done. Ive been doing it
    all my life.
  • The click it or ticket campaign does not seem
to be working, does it? To some its a joke and
to some, like the family in the article, it means
death. Somethings going wrong, Texas. Were
losing too many people who could have survived
traffic accidents had they been wearing seat
    belts.
  • Come on, Texas, buckle up.
  • --Brenden Hill, Dallas

OPINION- We let this happen every day.

    have survived traffic accidents
