• Describes web sites that maintain ongoing
  chronicle of info, frequently updated
• Ranges form personal to political

• Main content area, newest on top
• Archive of older articles
• A way for people to leave comments about article
• Links to related topics
• One or more feeds

• Content is the Raison dêtre
• Examples
• A catalog, info about place, etc
• With out updates why visit more then once
• Articles are called posts or entries

• Blogs allow visitors to leave comments
• AKA pingback or trackbacks
• These informs bloggers of information or cite
  from another site

• Content Management System (CMS)
• Provides features required to create and maintain
  a blog
• A system used to create blogs

• Archives- organizes and presents articles in a
  composed fashion
• Feeds- a function of special software that allows
  feedreaders to access a site automatically
  looking for new content and post updates to
  another site

• Blog rolls- a list of links to web pages the
  author of a blog finds worthwhile or interesting
• Pretty Permalinks- permanent URLs to weblog posts
• Link manager- place where you can manage all your
  links

• Post slugs- the title of your article post in the
  link if using Pretty permalinks
• Excerpt- summarizes the post
• Plug ins- cool bits of programming scripts that
  add additional functionality

Basics- A Few Tips

• Post regularly
• Stick with only a few specific genres
• Dont put subscribe and vote all over front page
• Use clean and simple themes
• Enjoy, blog for fun
