- We need a boat that draws sailors of all ages.
- We need a boat that is inexpensive but not poorly
built. - We need a boat that easy to manage and
trailerable but not difficult to rig. - We need a class that is privately owned.

5- - The Lido has a national class association.
- - The boat was built for the first time in 1958
- - The Lido was recently updated but the update
- did not effect the class integrity.
- Sits four adults and can be an easy to use
- family daysailor.
- Its simplicity and freeboard allows for sailors
- of all ages to get involved
- - No deflecting spreaders to worry about.
- - Easy to tune and store.
- - Will fit on a dolly.
- - Promotes inexperienced sailors to get
- involved.
- Not a replacement for the Flying Scot
- but an addition to club sailing.
6- The lido has plenty of space for
passengers. - The new design to the left and the
old design right and below are very
comparable in style and functionality.
- The older boats can be retro-fitted with all
of the newer boat parts. - Both are very safe and
easy to maintain, with each design remaining
competitive in the class today.
7- A new Lido 14 cost 5,500 dollars. - Used Lido
14s can be found for as cheap as 800
dollars. - New sails cost about 1100 dollars.
