Eleventh Grade Planning Calendar
Its never too early to begin planning for Life
After High School. Please check below for a
planning calendar for you to use during your
junior year to keep you on the road to college,
technical school, the military, or wherever you
choose to go.
  • FALL
  • In October, take the Preliminary SAT/National
    Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
When you fill out your test sheet, check the box
that releases your name to colleges so you can
    start receiving brochures from them.
  • Return your internet access permission form to
receive an Internet Sticker that will allow you
to register for My Road. Dont forget that you
will also need an e-mail address to open your My
    Road account.
  • Explore your college options. List things you
might be interested in regarding the college
websites you visit. Read about majors and
careers. Use the College Search to become
familiar with colleges that have the
    characteristics you are looking for.
  • Attend College Night at Clear Brook High School
    on November 16th, 2005.

19
  • WINTER
  • Review your PSAT score carefully. Use the score
report and your test booklet to review your
skills and work to improve them before taking the
    PSAT next year.
  • Plan to take the SAT or the ACT during your
    spring semester. Visit the www.collegeboard.com
or the www.act.org websites to register and
    review for the exams.
  • Get involved in activities outside the classroom.
Work toward leadership positions in the
activities that you like best. Become involved
in community service and other volunteer
    activities.
  • Work on your writing skills. Youll need them no
matter what you do. Find a teacher or another
adult who will advise and encourage you to write
    well.
  • Plan to attend the Financial Aide Night at Clear
Creek High School on December 5th, 2005.

20
  • SPRING
  • Keep your grades up so you can have the highest
    G.P.A. and class rank possible.
  • Prepare for any AP exams that you are planning to
    take.
  • Make good decisions about courses during
    registration for 12th grade.
  • Attend Career Night at Clear Lake High School on
    March 27th, 2006.
  • Check college web sites to determine admission
requirements. Make sure that you choose courses
    to satisfy those requirements.
  • Read all the mail you receive from colleges. You
may see something you like. Consider visiting a
college campus during spring break (check before
hand to ensure the college is not also on break)
    or during the summer.
  • SUMMER
  • Visit colleges over the summer. Take tours of
    campuses that you might be
  • interested in.
  • Request applications from colleges from which you
plan to apply. Finalize your resume, and begin
thinking about the entrance essays you will be
required to write. Get to know the admissions
counselor for each school you would like to apply
    to.
