Mission CHF International serves as a catalyst
for long-lasting positive change in low- and
moderate-income communities around the world,
helping them to improve their social, economic
and environmental conditions.

Founded in 1952, CHF International is an
international development and humanitarian relief
organization that empowers low-income
communities by serving as a catalyst for
long-lasting positive change. CHF currently
operates 88 programs in 30 countries throughout
Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and
the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe.

in Darfur, CHFs current Beyond Relief in a
Complex Environment (BRICE) project aims to
reduce the suffering of displaced families in
Darfur by helping them move from free handouts to
self-sufficiency while

- This projects key objectives are to
- minimize womens exposure to rape when collecting
firewood - increase household income and
- reduce land denudation.

The Darfur Stoves Project
- Reduces household expenses for fuelwood (160
annually, based on local prices) - Cuts by factor of 3 the time needed for women to
forage for fuelwood (1 trip per week, rather than
3) - Reduces the amount of firewood necessary to cook
per family (by a factor of 3)
