The Preparation

• A raid by the allied forces on the area of Dieppe
• Mass movement of troops to amass in southern
  England
• Continuous bombings of Normandy beach-bunkers and
  German supply routs to them
• 8,000 paratroopers landed behind enemy lines the
  night before the invasion of Normandy

• Allied troops numbered in the 10s of 1,000s
  from Britain, Canada, and the U.S.
• German forces defended the beaches from concrete
  bunkers numbered in hundreds along the beach
  front.

D-DAY, The Invasion

• 630AM approx. the allied forces discontinued
  bombing and shelling Normandy beach the Germans
  knew the time of attack was nearing and prepared.
  
• 720AM Approx. allied troop carriers were
  dispatched from British fleet Armos carrying more
  than 13,000 troops to the beaches.
• 1017AM Victory over the beaches was made.
